Add topicHello Prosody, welcome to the multilingual Wikisource! Thanks for your interest in the project; we hope you'll enjoy the community and your work here.
This wiki is the original Wikisource wiki, originally hosting works in many languages. The larger collections have been spawned into separate projects, leaving this wiki to serve as a central collaboration point, and as an environment where works without a language subdomain can be started. Refer to our languages list to see which languages still reside on this wiki. You can find a list of the separate language projects on the main page or here and you may want to look at the our coordination page for limitations on placing certain works on the separate language projects.
Most questions and discussions about the community are in the Scriptorium.
The Community Portal lists tasks you can help with if you wish. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me on my talk page!

Táin Bó Cúailnge
[edit]Hi, thanks for all your help with the Táin Bó Cúailnge! I have one request, though: would you please set all the pages you have thoroughly formatted to "proofread"? That means that they've undergone a first basic proofreading and are not (or no longer) just OCS gibberish. They'll still need to undergo a second proofreading by someone else before they can be set to "verified". Thanks! —Angr 20:33, 1 March 2013 (UTC)
- I've been reluctant to do so since my Old Irish is pretty weak and I've never studied Middle Irish. I've always felt that when dealing with long text in a language one should at least have a good passive understanding of its phonotactics and orthography to be able to spot errors that would slip by OCR. Not sure how everyone else thinks. If there is a general understanding that that level of proofreading ability counts as one of the two passes in PP I'll go ahead and start painting them yellow. - Well, since all you're doing is making sure the text on the page matches the text in the original scan, it doesn't require that much knowledge of the language. (And Middle Irish is so similar to Old Irish you don't need to study it separately.) Obviously if there's anything you're unsure of you can leave it pink (or paint it purple) or leave a message on my talk page to get a second opinion, but most of the time it can be turned yellow. And it's not as if you're forbidden from editing it anymore once you've marked it "proofread". I've occasionally found mistakes on pages already marked "verified" and gone ahead and fixed them. —Angr 23:16, 3 March 2013 (UTC)
Hi, thanks for finishing the Táin! If you're feeling at loose ends, you can still verify (turn green) the pages that I proofread. I'll try to find time to do the same for yours. —Angr 09:07, 14 June 2013 (UTC)
- Alternatively, if you feel like it, Scél mucci Mic Dáthó needs a first proofreading. Somewhat fewer footnotes than TBC. —Angr 01:23, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
- I believe I've validated all the pages you've proofread. To be honest I was really looking forward to finishing the Táin since I was kind of overextended on Wikisource, but the Scél Mucci is really tempting (I'm sure this is something all Wikisourcerers have trouble with). Maybe in a month or so. Prosody (talk) 05:39, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
