Add topictr.wikisource
[edit]We have made a request for tr.wikisource (Wikisource:Language_domain_requests#tr.wikisource.org_.28Turkish.29), it would be great to have tr.wikisource. As you can see meta:List_of_wikipedias#10.2C000.2B_articles tr.wikipedia is growing really very quickly. Especially the new users, want to add so many articles that has to be in wikisource. Thank you--Ugur Basak 10:00, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
- sure. you will have to ask developers about that. please post a request in bugzilla.wikipedia.org, or ask on irc. ThomasV 10:22, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
- Doesn't bureaucrats handle about new subdomains for wikisource. I look bugzilla.wikipedia.org, it seems to be for bug reports:)--Ugur Basak 10:59, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
- I did handle the first requests, but that was too much work so I decided to stop. the last 2 domains (id and cy) were created without my participation. have a look at bug 4087, and post something similar. I will vote for your bug. ThomasV 11:04, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
- 4333 this is the bug id. Thanks for your interest. Now its time wait --Ugur Basak 11:36, 21 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit]I didn't translate your message but I explained it for users who ignore what that bug is, and I put a short explanation about how to vote, because I were searching where I had to vote for a looonnng time :) --LadyInGrey 17:53, 21 December 2005 (UTC)

Some questions
[edit]Hi, und natürlich alles beste fúr 2006. Bin so frei und schreibe deutsch. Folgende Fragen bewegen mich
- I suggest that you request a cs wikisource. there is no need for 100 articles. all we need is to be sure that someone will patrol the new wiki on a regular basis, to avoid vandalism. ThomasV 07:44, 9 January 2006 (UTC)
Sure I read your page, thanks for hint. I'll answer some later as I will probably have some more questions. Thx, -jkb- 11:33, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
Hi. Concerning the request a cs-subdomain for wikisource, there are some questions I would like to be answered, and i hope you can do it. So:
- how long does it take to get the request ok? One day, one week, one mont, one year...?
- what about the name: I can imagine that the cs:wiki will have some ideas, about which it will be discussing some more time - when do we have to propose the new name?
- now I am an admin on wikisource.org; after getting a new subdomain for cs wikisource, there will be needed also an admin or maybe a bureaucrat; do I have to ask for it once again or will it be done authomatically or something else?
- if I will get an admin or bureaucrat on cs.wikisource - what will happen with my rights as an admin here? I would like to keep the rights and to help the fight the vandallism here also in the future, so far as I can
- on the sollution of the technical problems I will ask you next time
So long and thx for your answer, -jkb- 16:42, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
- the time it takes : follow the procedure on the page for requests. I guess there should be nobody opposing the creation of the subdomain, so after 1 or 2 weeks, file a bug in bugzilla. once that is done, the time it takes will depend on how much time brion has. it may take weeks.
- your rights in the new wiki: you'll have to request rights on the new wiki.
- your rights here: you will keep them
- the name: it is your problem. :-) you may change it later.

[edit]Salut,
ThomasV 10:37, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
buy viagra and others...
[edit]Hi. In the last days there is a plenty of vandalism and spam, every time the same (some pharma spams like buy viagra...), but every time from another IP address. As I have seen, you made some reverts without having blocked the IP, so I guess I should do the same - ? -jkb- 14:32, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
- I did not block them because I noticed they change their IP very quickly. ThomasV 14:44, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
Yes, it would have no impact. OK. -jkb- 14:50, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
Not Nice.
[edit]I would appreciate if you had given me a talk message on that deletion, or even helped me by putting it in en subdomain. There was nothing informing me on the contribution page nor the front page that all English contributions should go to en. I appreciate that you are an admin and you deal with a lot of garbage, but I'm trying to do some positive work here. Thanks, -Kwh 07:58, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
- my policy is to delete misplaced things as soon as possible, so that the contributor is still here to realize his contribution was not at the right place, and so that he does not invest too much time on it.
- sorry about that. it was not intended to be mean, just to spare your time and mine.
- normally, when you created the article, you should have seen a warning that texts in English are not appropriate here.
- ThomasV 08:04, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
I understand, also I came across some of the discussions and I now understand the situation with the language subdomains... gotcha. Thanks -Kwh 08:15, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
I'm like to apply for cs:source soon
[edit]I think I will apply for it, with our about 40 pages we shall not have so many problems by moving to another place. Yesterday evening i started something like brain storming and voting on 1. whether we want to have a own domain and 2. if there is a consensus that I will be a sysop-bureaucrat (see here in the middle of the page). On this way it will be quite official. If the questions are replied (sure they will be) positively, I will apply for it. As I said some days before, I will naturally have a look also here to see who is vandalizing again etc. - don't worry be happy :-)... -jkb- 13:41, 13 January 2006 (UTC)
Hi and good day. I have just applied for the cs.domain, see here. I hope you can supposrt it and also I hope I can discuss with you some days later the modalities of the movements there – I think no problem, as everything in Czech is categorized by myself. All the best for the evening, -jkb- 16:08, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
Hallo, I'd like to ask you something. First, thanks for you support. As you said, the name of the new language domain can be decided also later. So, in my application (here) I did not choose a name, as the Czech wiki is still discussiong this. But a user there told me, he spoke on this topic with a developer or so and he told him, this is not possible and not usual. So, is it all right or not? Thx, -jkb- 17:50, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
- I do not know. this developer is probably right. ThomasV 18:24, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
The Elephant and the Blindmen
[edit]Good on you for deleting this. If it comes back again, please do not exhort the anon user to post it on en:wikisource. It is a copyvio because Albert Turner, the author, was still publishing in 1975 so must have lived at least that long. —Theo (Talk) 22:22, 13 January 2006 (UTC)
British locations
[edit]Thank you for pointing out my error. I read the archive before beginning the transwiki process. The problem for en:wikipedia is that the list is too long, unlinked, and presented as an article rather than a list. I can see that there is some merit in the list and think that EN:WP is its most appropriate location. If EN:WP does not want it then it should not be on any Wikimedia project and interested parties can find similar lists elsewhere on the web. I will now fix those links. —Theo (Talk) 22:22, 13 January 2006 (UTC)
Re: chinese articles
[edit]All articles prefixed "Broken/" are in Japanese. None is in Chinese. I know how hard it is for you to distinguish Chinese and Japanese. I do now know why they have been prefixed "Broken/". They can be deleted. You do not have to wait for my check up since I as an administrator can still see their history after deletion.
I also see some articles that should be moved to language subdomains from the list of all articles.--Jusjih 11:22, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Hello Thomas, es:Monobook.js is updated, but it does not work.
some other function is necessary?.
A greeting and thanks es:Silvestre,(Talk)
- you forgot "addLoadEvent(bilingualLink);"
<div title="beginning"></div>
[edit]Hi Thomas
I see that you added <div title="beginning"></div> to the top of da:s:Keiserens nye Klæder. As far as I can see it doesn't really do anything apart from removing one of the two linebreaks above the first paragraph in the previous revision. As this seems like a rather cumbersome way to remove a linebreak I was just wondering if it is actually doing/supposed to be doing something else as well? --Christian S 20:16, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
- it is used by the bilingual extension, for paragraph alignment. check http://fr.wikisource.org/wiki/Les_Habits_neufs_de_l%27Empereur?match=da.
- ThomasV 20:19, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
Ah, yes...now it makes sense. Thanks! By the way, do you know what happened to the ⇔-link to the bilingual comparison pages? They seem to work at Latin wikisource, but they do no longer appear next to interwikilinks at da or en. --Christian S 20:38, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
- there was a change in the wikimedia software, so you need to update monobook.js (check the last change on fr) ThomasV 20:40, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
Updated at da, now it works there. Thanks a lot! --Christian S 20:50, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
Bonjour ThomasV,

what to ...
[edit]Hello. So, sooner as I thought, it happened. This morning I requested my bureaucrat access (here), I hope that's all right. Now please I have some questions to the procedure and I need a little help:
- as far as i can see, the pages were moved but they also stayed here - I suppose they must be deleted, i can do it, but confirm please
- is it necessary to make something like a redirect on the old Main_Page:Česky here?
- is there anything else what I should do after creating of the new domain?
Thx, you will see me here in the future just like in the past, but I guess in the next some days i have to do something on cs.... -jkb- 13:46, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
- yes you will have to delete the pages, in order to prevent unaware people from keeping to edit them here. I can delete them with a bot if they are in a category, but not right now because my computer is not running at the moment. otoh, there is not too many of them, so I guess you may as well delete them manually.
- it will help to make a redirect on the old main page if it is visited.
- nothing else to do, I guess.
- ThomasV 14:24, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for help. I will delete the remaining czech pages by myself in these days, might be that I will need them here to controll something. A redirect on the main page should be done also a bit later after we consolidate the new one. OK, nice weekend, -jkb- 15:28, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
- Thx for answers. I think i know what to do. -jkb- 16:39, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

interwiki
[edit]Funny, I am just trying to solve one very easy problem - to make an interwiki in the left collumn, to show, that this document is avaiable also in some other languages... Am I right, that this feature doesn't function in Wikisource? And, that in this case I must use templates like Pater noster etc.? Thx, -jkb- 17:36, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
- it works. just check how other subdomains do. ThomasV 17:53, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
Wow. I tried on de.source, they told me it doesn't function... -jkb- 20:59, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
- please be more specific. I do not unerstand what you are talking about. ThomasV 22:01, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
Well, it is no problem to make an interwiki on a text in a domain like de.wikisource etc., but I have problems if I want to make interwiki from cs.wikisource to a page here, i.e. multilingual wikisource.org. ---jkb- 11:06, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
- it does not work with fikisource.org. only between subdomains. ThomasV 11:55, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
yes yes, now I have it, in cases where it is necessary I make templates or something like that, happy rest of the Easter, in Berlin will be raining soon, ---jkb- 12:32, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
Kannada Wikisource
[edit]Hi. Thanks for your suggestion and encouragement. Yes, I believe this is the time for requesting kn.wikisource subdomain, as the number of contributors are increasing now. But before requesting the subdomain i wanted to learn more about the policies of wikisource usage and articles. Like what can be considered as a freetext? If there is a poem, how do we decide whether it can be put or not on wikisource? Can you help me getting answers? Where can I find the policies related to these kind of things? Thanks. --Mana|ಮನ 02:57, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
- Here are the rules: Texts on wikisource must (1) be in the public domain, or have been published under a free licence and (2) have been published elsewhere (no original texts are accepted). There is one exception to rule 2: wikisource can publish translations of texts that have been published elsewhere. In this case the translation is a collective work of wikisource contributors, and is not considered as the work of a single wikisource user.
- so if you want to put a poem on wikisource, the only thing you have to check is that it is in the public domain (ie no copyright violation)
- ThomasV 07:44, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
- Thomas, Thank you! Today I have raised the request for Kannada wikisource subdomain. Thanks. --Mana|ಮನ 20:20, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
Hi there! Thanks for creating category for Kannada. Do you want me to categorize all the Kannada wikisource pages into Category:Kannada ? I can do that. Also, in the Domain request page, there are more than about 10 supportes for Kannada subdomain request. Can you please do the needful now? Or should we wait for some more time? Thank you! - Mana|ಮನ 22:02, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- If you want to have a subdomain created, you have to ask developers, not me. the best way is to contact brion on IRC. Before you do that, create a list of all the pages you want to be moved to your subdomain, and post a bug in bugzilla, requesting the creation of your subdomain. ThomasV 07:45, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
Thomas, I am going to prepare the list of all the pages to be moved to Kannada subdomain. In domain requests page, it is mentioned as we can take help from ThomasBot, if we wish. And, in the talk page of ThomasBot, I found this message by you 'If you wish to use this bot on your site please contact me.' Can you guide me what is the most preferred way of preparing the list of pages? Will categorization of all the pages into a new category do? - ಮನ|Mana 05:28, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
- the bot is for editing pages. it will not move pages. if you want to have pages moved to kn, please ask developers. the bot cannot do that. ThomasV 18:13, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

hu language subdomain request
[edit]What do you think, if hungarian subdomain run, will we have possibility to move the changes in environment (changes in Mediawiki.../hu messages) to the new hungarian subdomain in a simple way? I mean by that, will we have to start the whole translation work from zero level, or could we apply changes I made here, in oldwikisource? Gubb 17:36, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
- I do not know. you might want to ask developers to move the articles you created here. ThomasV 22:56, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
Free Culture
[edit]ThomasV, it was just pointed out on the English sub-domain that Free Culture is released under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial license, which unfortunately is incompatible with the GDFL. Since Wikimedia projects can only have public domain, GFDL, or GFDL-compatible licensed works, we have no choice but to delete Free Culture on our sub-domain. I would imagine, that since the other translations are likewise under the CC A-NC license, they will have to be deleted as well.—Zhaladshar (Talk) 04:06, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
- wow... I cannot believe copyright fundamentalism has gone that far... ThomasV 05:55, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
- You're telling me. WMF has gone completely paranoid about copyright statuses. Everything we host must be allowed to be distributed commercially, so even things that we could host we might not be allowed to because of the stupid WMF copyright policies. For a project like WS, we could be losing a lot of good material because of dumb incompatibilities.—Zhaladshar (Talk) 06:11, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
Categories
[edit]OK, you seem to be a bit of an authority here. But I don't see how (so soon after they were written) or why my recent comments could be deprecated, so I'm not at all pleased that you deleted the page. Where do we discuss categorization? Robin Patterson 01:06, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
- it's not your comment that were deprecated, it is the discussion you were referring to. you could have seen by yourself that it dated back from 2004. if you want to discuss categories, I suggest you use the scriptorium. ThomasV 02:26, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

Request user rename
[edit]You probably don't frequent wikisource.org very often (most of the work happens on the language ones), but since you're the most active bureacrat (out of two) on this Wikisource, I'll give the rename request to you.
I would like to be renamed from User:Ambush Commander to User:Edward Z. Yang in anticipation for the implementation of single login. Thanks. Ambush Commander 23:08, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
- done. sorry for the delay. ThomasV 10:20, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
- No need to be sorry about it. I'm still waiting for a rename on Commons, and Wikinews refused to rename me. Thanks a bunch! Edward Z. Yang 16:58, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
"I have seen that you imported hungarian pages from ws.org to here. could you also delete these pages from ws.org ?"
Yes, we will delete duplicated pages if you want. Gubb 06:45, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
It'd be better if a sysop at the Vietnamese Wikisource were to do it, using the Special:Import function, so that the page edits would be preserved. I no longer have sysop status there, but I'll try to get in touch with Clytie, the sole remaining sysop. Otherwise, I'll take care of it when I get the chance. – Minh Nguyễn (talk, blog) 18:05, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
Yes, Clytie hasn't been active for some time. We held a vote of sorts to elect sysops, but only Clytie got more than one vote of support. (Our community is rather small...) I'll import the pages manually soon. – Minh Nguyễn (talk, blog) 06:25, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

All those articles have been moved to thai wikisouce. If you come across this message, please be informed that you can delete all of those articles. Thank you. Toutou 14:14, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
- Also, please advice to how configure user-config.py to run a bot on wikisource.org. Many thanks. Toutou

[edit]Hi, ThomasV,
I've created the skeleton vote at Wikisource:Administrator. It's commented out, so you'll have to bring up the source and read it. Could you go over it, and make any changes you deem necessary before we go ahead with the vote? Thanks.—Zhaladshar (Talk) 00:15, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
- it's fine with me. you can go ahead. ThomasV 13:38, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
Das erste Jahrzehnt der Weltsprache Volapük
[edit]Dear Thomas,
Thank you for your answer. I'm new here, so I don't understand all the rules very well. So you say I must move the text in the title to the German wikisource? OK, I'll do that. But let's see: if I interpret you correctly, that means texts in German cannot be here? But I've noticed other wikisources have texts in languages other than the 'main' one -- why is that so? What exactly is the policy here? Smeira 10:54, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
- this site is for pages in languages that do not have a subdomain. other wikisources should only have texts in their language. in some cases it is difficult to decide, eg if a text is written in two languages. however, in the case of your text it is clearly german. ThomasV 13:13, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Volapük subdomain
[edit]Thanks for your strong support, ThomasV! I had once tried to request a Volapük wikisource, but I was told then that the policy was not to create subdomains simply because there were many texts in Wikisource (one of the syspos, Yann, has lots of Sanskrit texts already but no subdomain); rather, subdomains were created when there were several interested contributors. Apparently I am the only Volapük geek around here; it would be against the policy to create a subdomain only for me, so they said I should simply stay in the old wikisource. Isn't that so? Has the policy changed? --Smeira 11:23, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- what we want to avoid is to create a wiki that nobody takes care of. if you plan to take care of it that's fine with me. I think that you have demonstrated enough long-term commitment. ThomasV 23:29, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
Dear Thomas,
Thanks for your support for a Volapük subdomain. I suppose it would be a step towards more prestige... (what are the navigation advantages that you mentioned?) I just keep remembering what user Yann said once about also having tons of Sanskrit texts here without a specific Sanskrit subdomain... and also, isn't it difficult to transfer a large set of texts to a new subdomain? Especially when there are external links already set up (for instance, I have many links from the Volapük Wikipedia to this wikisource -- e.g., a Volapük writer page with, in his bibliography, direct links to the texts stored here; see, e.g., vo:Johann Schmidt)? (By the way, where do I go to ask for a subdomain? I once did this, but it was so long ago I can't remember anymore...) --Smeira 22:31, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
- I do not agree with yann on that; I think that you have demonstrated far enough commitment, and that we can trust you as a reliable subdomain maintainer. You will have to transfer texts using the special:Import function. The longer you wait, the more work this will take. the same holds for the wikipedia links: they will need to be updated. This is why I believe you should create this subdomain as soon as possible. In order to request the creation of a subdomain, the most efficient method is to ask on IRC, channel #wikimedia-tech. (having submitted a bug before might help; however if you only submit a bug chances are that nobody will care) ThomasV 09:47, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
Hi ThomasV,
I am trying to get a good request for a Volapük wikisource domain going -- I'm going to try to place one in meta, as User:555 had suggested on my page. I've seen at meta:Language proposal policy that they want new projects to come from the incubator, and also that they want at least five people interested in contributing to the new project; but this is probably meant more for wikipedias than for wikisources (for which, I gather, oldwikisource plays the role of the incubator). I can't get on IRC; how does one do that? Maybe my simple internet connection won't do that? At any rate, I hope that my having posted this request at meta will get some attention for the Volapük wikisource. --Smeira 02:35, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- I've just finished the request at meta -- it is here. I hope I did it right. Now let's see if they think a community of one is still acceptable. --Smeira 03:23, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- if the policy is now to have 5 people interested in participating, I guess you will not get a domain soon. but you can reasonably complain about this policy; I do not think it is a good one... it is true that we had to close a wikisource subdomain because it was abandonned; however I do not think that this would be a major disaster, that requires such drastic countermeasures... Tamil wikisource
[edit]Hi,We have voted for the creation of tamil wikisource and there is lot of support. please see http://wikisource.org/wiki/Wikisource:Language_domain_requests . But the request is pending for long time. we would like to get the tamil wikisource started immediately as we have lot of our ancient literature worksto be uploaded there. please let us know if we have to do anything more to start the process of creating domain for tamil wikisource. we assure to take care of the domain. Thanks--Ravidreams 11:01, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
- yes, you have to ask the developers. I am not the person in charge of creating subdomains. go to IRC and request it there. ThomasV 07:35, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Thank you. I will contact the developers. I tried already in IRC. BUt will try again.--Ravidreams 10:07, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

Proofread
- For images that are larger than the half page, thumbs are generated by a 404 handler. you have to install the WebStore for that, and to configure Apache so that 404 errors in the image directory are redirected to the handler. ThomasV 09:07, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
- Thanx, it flies :) Xarax aka --85.178.246.164 13:52, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
Icon and PageQuality()
[edit]Hi, ThomasV,
I'm desperate with the function pageQuality() at catalan Wikisource, and I was wondering if you could please give me some help.
I've copied ca:s:Plantilla:PageQuality like fr, en or it WS's ones.
I've inserted it into ca:s:Pàgina:ConstitucionsCatalanesVolumIr.jpg, with diferents parameters (50%, 75%).
"Pàgina" is the namespace for the "page" namespace; at ca:WS there are no "Page" namespace, but it seems it is not important (because the it:WS) neither has it, and there it works what at ca:WS doesn't work.
The problem is that the onglet/image/icon of 25%, 50%, 75% or 100%.png or .svg does not appear!
I first have tested with my ca:s:Usuari:Aleator/Common.js and there I have tested lots of variants of the pageQuality(), but none seems to work. I have considered the substring of 7, with "Pàgina:", "P%C3%A0gina:"...
Should I open one bugzilla?
Thank you! -Aleator 13:52, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
- try ca:s:Usuari:Aleator/common.js, "Pàgina:" ThomasV 14:23, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
- sorry, user defined js has to be in monobook.js ThomasV 14:58, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Volapük domain
[edit]Hi ThomasV,
I had already asked for a domain, and the request has been conditionally approved. I'm now trying to understand how to translate system messages in BetaWiki (and hoping the translations I did for the Volapük Wikipedia can be imported).
By the way, there's now a proposal for closing the Volapük Wikipedia. In case you have time to consider the issue, your vote could help the cause of keeping it alive (assuming of course you think this is worth doing :-). --Smeira 15:19, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
ProofreadPage extensions on new wikisources
[edit]Hi, was just wondering if the extension is automatically enabled on newly created wikisources. I saw that there is no "Page" namespace in the newly created Armenian Wikisource, thus it hasn't been enabled? Thought to ask you first, before asking for it to be enabled through bugzilla. Thanks. Teak 01:26, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
- the extension does not need a namespace in order to work; if you also want a namespace, it has to be requested separately.
- check Special:Version to see if the extension is enabled on your wiki.
- ThomasV 08:47, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks! Somehow the idea of checking Special:Version escaped me... - Teak 14:21, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

Question
[edit]Dear Thomas, your new Proofread's extension in, as always, very useful and beautiful. I just wanted to know if there were the possibility to personalize colors. Thank you Aubrey
- yes of course. the color classes are defined in fr:s:MediaWiki:Monobook.css, quality1 to quality4.
- you need to create them on it.ws
- users can also define different colors on their own css.

MediaWiki: Proofreadpage index template
[edit]Hi, is there any way to turn the function off? Looks like a very useful tool, but I'd like to turn it off before it's fully translated and adapted to hy:ws (with all the necessary templates and so on). Thanks - Teak 17:20, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- sorry, I forgot to document this.
- you do not need to wait until it is translated, you can translate it yourself.
- for this, you have to edit s:hy:Mediawiki:Proofreadpage index attributes : it is a list of fields, separated by new lines.
- then you are free to define the other template as you want
- if this is too complicated, you can simply turn it off with "var proofreadpage_index_noauto=1" in your monobook.js
- ThomasV 18:52, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
it was a nice time anyway
[edit]Thanks for your mail and your support. You can believe I am not very amused to make such a difficult decision. But, I had and I have a special idea how a wikisource domain should be, I do orientate me on the discussions here and on the en.source or the de.source. But when people start to try to reorganize the whole project like a subdomain of a wiki, where everybody is fighting to everybody, when there is no discussion but edit wars and reverts, and, very important, when there is no time to discuss the next goals and the strategy, so I do not think I have to do something here. And, I am not like to be a bureaucrat of the domain, where proxy wars from the wiki domain are being fighted, and I can do nothing against it. As I said, I keep my rights in the moment, but that's all. It was a nice time here, anyway. -jkb- 20:13, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
Proofreadpage statistics
[edit]Hi, can you please add the page status categories for hywikisource to your bots script. The categories are:
Սրբագրված = Proofread
Հաստատված = Validated
Thanks. Teak 03:31, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for adding the hywikisource categories to the statistics. I'm wondering if it wouldn't make more sense to include the validated page count in the "proofread" statistics. For example there are 100 pages in the page namespace, 65 of them are proofread and 20 of these are validated. As of now the statistics would show 100:45:20, which creates the wrongful impression that 55 pages are untouched, which wouldn't be the case. I guess an alternative way would be to modify the page status handling so that the validated pages are included in both "proofread" and "validated" categories, which wouldn't be too convenient when weeding out the proofread but not validated pages... ― Teak 16:32, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Hello Thomas. Is it possible to include in the table produced by the bot percentage-of-total columns for "proofread" and "validated" works? Thanks, - Mtmelendez 18:31, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
- yes, but I do not want to do it on this page. The reason is that I do not keep a record of the data. Instead, I use the history of the page in order to build the graph. So, this page is the data, and I do not want to change its format too much, nor to overload it. a possibility would be to include a template in this page, or to use another page. ThomasV 08:30, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

renaming PAJD
[edit]Hi. User PAJD asked me to be renamed to Petrus Adamus as he thought I could do it. I guess he will confirm it here. Regards, -jkb- 09:29, 29 January 2009 (UTC) Yes, I confirmate the request. --PAJD 13:47, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- the user Petrus Adamus already exists ThomasV 10:25, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
In fact I do not understand what happened exactly. Here I see indeed that the account has been created automatically (29.01.2009), which is normal when somebody with a SUL-Account visits this domain. In the SUL util for the user I see that a SUL account does not exist (by 02.02.2009). More over, the SUL utility does not show some other existing accounts of the user: the renaming of PAD to Petrus Adamus on the cs.source [7] and for instance also the account here on the Oldwikisource. So, I assume the user has visited this domain while logged in as Petrus Adamus somewhere else not knowing that he will be registered automatically here even without merging his SUL account. -jkb- 13:48, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
The automatically created account exists but I would like to relocate the history of PAJD to the new account too (formally an usurpation is needed). The page SUL util has always an big delay, therefore the SUL-Account might be shown after one month or also later. --PAJD 21:32, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
SUL really does show that my account isn't unified, although I have unified it. Despite of that I please you, rename me, usurping the present, automatically created Petrus Adamus. I have this name in all the projects, except of this one. --PAJD 23:08, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
Couly you please rename me? --PAJD 09:48, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
- I am sorry but I received the following message when trying to rename Petrus Adamus : "User Petrus Adamus has been migrated to the unified login system. Renaming it will cause the local user to be detached from the global one." If you are Petrus Adamus in the other projects, you should be able to log in here as Petrus Adamus. ThomasV 09:56, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
- Could you please give me a proof that you are own the unified 'Petrus Adamus' account ? (for example, write a signed statement on your talk page at meta). ThomasV 10:03, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
- Pray see my user page in Meta, I have placed a confirmation there. Of course, I am now able to log in here as Petrus Adamus, nevertheless, I would like to preserve my contribution history, shift it under the new account, thus the renaming is needed. Thank you beforehand. --PAJD 11:45, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I'm Maximillion Pegasus. I was wondering if you could give my bot the sysop and bot flags. It is a general maintenance bot that runs automatically. - BTW, I agree that wikisource.org has an other nature as Wikipedia projects. -jkb- 14:03, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
- Ok, I see -jkb- took care of all the broken redirects. Could it still have the bot flag though? As it also fixes double redirects. Also, a question: Are interwiki links used in pages here to link to other language versions of a page? If so, the bot can do that also. Maximillion Pegasus 23:22, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
- there are no interlanguage links on this wiki. you should first learn what this wiki is, and how it works, before applying for admin or bot flags. ThomasV 11:04, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
- I know, that's why I was asking you :) So a bot isn't needed to fix double redirects whenever they come up? I see there usually aren't too many, so it could be done by hand. Maximillion Pegasus 15:10, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
mw: Extension:Proofread Page fault
[edit]Hello! Thomas, with last update of MediaWiki software a roman numeration feature in <pagelist> was broken. A examples is en:s:Index:Wind in the Willows (1913).djvu at English wikisource and ru:s:Индекс:Lexicon-01 (Pluchart).djvu at Russian. Please fix it. -- Sergey kudryavtsev 10:05, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Proofread
[edit]Is it possible to change the default of the Proofread extension, so that instead of showing vertically, it will show horizontally? Just to make life more convenient, and so I don't have to hit the "show horizontally" button for every page I read. V85 11:53, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
- yes, you can choose to split the page horizontally during edition (like on de.ws) , if you set the following variable :
var proofreadpage_default_layout='horizontal';
this setting can be activated by single users, or for all users if it set in common.js
- Thank you! V85 15:01, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Pages vues
[edit]Salut Thomas.
Enmerkar 12:46, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
ThomasV 19:03, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
Thomas, is a voting about new layout of the main page already finished? The page counting at Template:TopTenCircle is dramatically obsoleted. Could you update a page counting and add a page views statistic? -- Sergey kudryavtsev 09:35, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

OCR-tool
[edit]Hello. I found at oldwikisource forum a link to your MediaWiki:OCR.js. For which scripting systems are suitable this tool? How to enable it on Russian subdomain? What's a software based on? -- Sergey kudryavtsev 22:40, 25 December 2009 (UTC)
- it is based on Tesseract, and it runs on the toolserver. Unfortunately it does not have russian support.
- however this tool is a bit obsolete now. it would be much better for you to create djvu files with an ocr text layer.
- ThomasV 09:36, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
Match and split
[edit]As we are gettng better at havind texts backed up by scans, I was wondering if you could help us set up the "match and split" function on s:no. I have found several texts which could be matched and split, such as s:no:Synnøve Solbakken (I began doing it manually, but it would be easier if it could be automated; that way it could also be done more quickly also for other works). For the time being, we are only two relatively active people on s:no, and I'm not sufficiently confident to put up this feature all by myself. V85 19:33, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
- sure, but it will not work with that file because it has no ocr text layer. you first need to add a text layer to the djvu. note that djvus at archive.org very often have a text layer ThomasV 20:18, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
- you need to install this script : http://no.wikisource.org/wiki/Bruker:ThomasV/monobook.js (globally, or in your preferences)
- you also want to give User:ThomasBot the bot flag at no.ws.
- ThomasV 20:25, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
- Sadly, we have no bureaucrats on no:ws who could hand out bot status. We could try using s:no:Sogor: ein bundel which should be matched to s:no:Per Sivle - Sogor.djvu. (I started doing that job manually, but it got boring.) V85 17:48, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
I am trying to split from a "split page" I created in my user name, but I keep getting error messages. What am I doing wrong? V85 22:39, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
- I have solved the problem. No worries. ;-) I forgot to remove some old text, so the text didn't match the the OCR-layer. V85 12:25, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
Modernisations
[edit]Dear ThomasV,
I am contacting you, since you are the only contributor to the file MediaWiki:Modernisation.js (if there are others who are better equipped to answer my queries, please do let me know, and I'll get in touch with them). I would like to start testing how modernisations would work on no: (as a sort of βeta), and for this, I have several questions, which all relate to how this extension could be implemented on no:, concerning som specificities of the Norwegian language: I present them here, hoping that you might have a good solution for solving them, as I have a very limited knowledge of Java.
Norwegian has two orthographies: Bokmål and Nynorsk, for this reason, we have started building two dictionaries: one for Bokmål and one for Nynorsk. The work for Bokmål has advanced much more quickly than for Nynorsk, so this is the one which is most suited for running tests. I imagine a sort of "marker" being put on each page, to indicate to the script which dictionary it should use in order to do the modernisation. (The implication of this is that a text with no such marker, cannot be modernised, which would apply to texts written in non-standard orthographies, which, would require complete dictionaries to be made for each text.) These dictionaries are so far merely drafts, e.g. now they include a list of words needing disambuation at the end. Being able to see how the script functions would allow us to complete the "holes" the dictionaries might have, before launching this feature. (Of course, if the dictionaries should be moved to different titles, or be in a different format, let us know, and we implement those changes.)
Furthermore, the texts which we are working on, mostly date from late 19th, early 20th century, a time period when typography was somewhat different from today, we could therefore like to see some other changes done as well:
Two practices from de: adopted on no:
- "SperrSchrift", indicated with the template {{sperret}} should be italic.
- Typewriter text (used for antiqua in fracture-texts), should also be italic.
Some other issues:
- Most of the texts which we are working on, do not use standardised quotation marks, today «guillemets» are the norm and should be used in all modernisations; i.e. „German“, »Danish«, “American”, and possibly even ”Swedish” (very rare) quotation marks should be replaced by «guillemets». I suppose that here we could use some sort of marker which would indicate how to replace these quotation marks. (Akin to the page-specific spellings used on fr: for words which are ambiguous.)
- The letter "ö" is in some texts used instead of "ø" and should be replaced accordingly. The exception, of course, is German and Swedish words (primarily names) spelled with "ö". (I assume the most efficient solution here would be that such names are page-specific). This would also mean that words including the letter "ö" not merely have it changed to "ø", but are also modernised as though they were written with the letter "ø". (The letter "ä" is never used instead of "æ"; so far, I have only seen this done in one text. [[[Indeks:Fra Kristiania Bohêmen.djvu]], which, alas, we have yet to complete.])
- ſ/ß -> s/ss (ß is rare in those texts I have come across, though it does occur, while "sſ" and "ſs" frequently occur.) (for pages / the change ſ->s is already in place.
- The symbol "ɔ:" (meaning "i.e.") frequently occurs, and should be replaced by the abbreviation "dvs.": Will the colon prevent the javascript from reading and replacing it correctly? Having it replaced by "dvs.:" would be odd.
- Most of these texts have adopted the German fashion of capitalising all nouns, this practice is today considered obsolete. Is there some way in which this change could be made by the script? I.e. "de-capitalise" all words except for proper nouns. In some cases, this would also apply to ordinary words, e.g. the novella Trofast, where "Trofast" (Faithful) is the name of a dog, and therefore should be treated as a proper noun and not an adjective.
As you see, my request is very comprehensive. This is because all the questions which we so far have come up with to the challenge of modernising texts are presented here, so there shouldn't be any more issues arising immediately, once these have been dealt with.
Sincerely, V85 20:22, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

how to translate the Proofread messages to Breton (br)
[edit]According to Vigneron, you know how to do it. At least the following are missing:
- Without text: Hep ger ebet
- Problematic: Kudennoù enni
- Not proofread: Nann-adlennet
- Proofread: Adlennet
- Validated: Kadarnaet
- This page does not need to be proofread: N’eus ket ezhomm adlenn ar bajenn-mañ
- There was a problem when proofreading this page: Ur gudenn ez eus bet oc’h adlenn ar bajenn-mañ
- This page has not been proofread: N'eo ket bet adlennet ar bajenn-mañ
- This page has been proofread: Adlennet eo bet ar bajenn-mañ
- This page has been validated: Kadarnaet eo bet ar bajenn-mañ
Also, editing this page, I see an incorrect message: Editing is translated by "Oc'h kemmañ". The best solution would be to use the same message as in the Breton Wikipedia: "Oc’h aozañ".

- bonjour,

- D'accord, on y compte bien :-) Kouign-amann 11:43, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

doublewiki
[edit]Hi Thomas, I've recently discovered the Wikisource:DoubleWiki Extension. A useful tool indeed, but scrolling down the page, the two columns often tend to go out of alignment, due to different page formats and different text length. And I wondered: why there aren't two separate scrollbars, one for each column? That would let the user adjust the columns as they want, and probably be very easy to implement. By the way, I really can't believe that no one in four years ever thought about that...
P.S. in some pages I see a blank space, see [9]... is there a way to fix it?
Many thanks, Candalua 13:31, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
- If you allow... Well, the problem the different vertical scrolling has been discussed a long time ago but not solved, I think two scrolling bars would be a very good sollution. -jkb- 14:18, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
- It was easy to do it on one page only (like this) but unfortunately I suppose it is more difficult to do it on DoubleWiki. --Zyephyrus 22:31, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

DoubleWiki and right to left languages
[edit]Hi Thomas, I've also discovered your Wikisource:DoubleWiki Extension and found it useful. However, I notice that it will take RTL language pages, like Hebrew in my case, and display them with left or center alignment. Is there any tag to force the matched page's alignment in a certain direction? I have looked at the historical discussions of this extension, but have not seen this particular question brought up. Thanks Shemindex 02:22, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
- example, please ThomasV 05:25, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for getting back. Sorry for the delay. Here is the page in question: http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Arukh_ha-Shulchan/Orach_Chaim/1?match=he . Once again, I have to say this is a really good extension. Shemindex 15:32, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
- I suppose the easiest way to ask this question is "Can the text alignment of the matching text (on the right side) be adjusted in any way (left, right, or center)? Thanks for any help you can provide.
- I see on Wikimedia that you updated the code to include "*new tag hook where users provide text alignment information". I'm not sure if that would help with my question, but it sounds promising.
- Shemindex 16:28, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
- yes, I completely rewrote this extension. It will work differently.
- However, concerning your problem, I do not know where the wrong alignment comes from. Are there other cases where it gets left-aligned ?
- ThomasV 21:08, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
- Near as I can tell, by looking at the html of the rendered matching page above, Doublewiki is adding a center tag to each snippet of Hebrew text. It might be picking it up from the Hebrew side, which has a centered section on top that is not enclosed in its own div section, so that the Doublewiki code might think that the center tag is somehow supposed to be duplicated in each Hebrew text snippet. At least, that's what I think.
- By experimenting with different kinds of English pages (with headers, without headers, with right alignment, etc...), I have noticed that the default Hebrew matching view on Doublewiki will usually be left aligned text, which unfortunately is the wrong way. Even though the html code correctly identifies the snippets as Hebrew, it treats them as Hebrew in an English document (left aligned) instead of Hebrew in a Hebrew document (right aligned). (Due the strange addition of the center tag, at least the page I had pointed to is centered, which is more readable than the default left alignment.) How has the operation of the extension changed after the rewrite? Thanks, Shemindex 20:06, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
- the future version will work as described here : http://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikisource-l/2010-August/000869.html
- the center tag is indeed probably replicated from somewhere in the page

Improving Modernisation.js
[edit]Hello!
I was wondering if you could make some changes to the current code of MediaWiki:Modernisation.js, so that we can use different alphabets and variants of a language?
For example, adding something like this:
var ws_alphabet = { 'pt':'a-záàâãçéêẽíóòôõq̃úűA-ZÁÀÂÃÇÉÊẼÍÓÒÔÕQ̃ÚŰ', 'pt-br':'a-záàâãçéêẽíóòôõq̃úűA-ZÁÀÂÃÇÉÊẼÍÓÒÔÕQ̃ÚŰ', 'fr':'a-zçâàäāãéèêẽëîïôöōõûùüÿœæA-ZÀÂÄÉÈÊËÎÏÔÖÙÛÜŸÇŒÆ&ß', } var dictionary_page = { 'pt':'Wikisource:Dicionário', 'pt-br':'Wikisource:Dicionário/pt-br', 'fr':'Wikisource:Dictionnaire', }
and than change this line:
list = reg_split(text,/([^a-zçâàäāãéèêẽëîïôöōõûùüÿœæA-ZÀÂÄÉÈÊËÎÏÔÖÙÛÜŸÇŒÆ&ß]+)/);
to something like
var user_lang = false; var lang = user_lang? wgUserLanguage : wgContentLanguage; re_alphabet = RegExp("([^" + ws_alphabet[lang] + "]+)", ""); list = reg_split(text, re_alphabet);
and also this line
url = 'http://fr.wikisource.org/w/api.php?action=query&format=json&prop=revisions&titles=Wikisource:Dictionnaire&rvprop=content&callback=do_mod_callback';
to something like this
url = wgServer + '/w/api.php?action=query&format=json&prop=revisions&titles=' + dictionary_page[lang] + '&rvprop=content&callback=do_mod_callback';
so that both "pt" and "pt-br" could be used at pt.wikisoure, and each one could have a different dictionary.
After that, I'll probably convert my current tables (1, 2...) to the appropriate sintax in order to try this this amazing feature.
PS: You may be interested to know about this talk on the use of LanguageConverter class for modernization directly in MediaWiki. Have a good week! =) Helder 03:49, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
- sorry for the delay ; I will have a look next week ThomasV 05:40, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
- No problem ;)
- In the meanwhile I've adaptated the script to test it also for conversion between variants of Portuguese used in Portugal and Brazil. The updates include drafts of:
- A menu for selection of language variants in the top of page, as in Image:Menu para modernização.png, with flags added by css. This is useful for wikis in which it is used more than one only variant (usually for different countries);
- A parameter "variant" which can be added to the url of a page to convert it.
- A spinner (badly positioned for while =) ) shown during the conversion;
- A fix for a bug which was happening when a page have words which are function names in javascript (like "sort", "pop" and "some");
- A variable (called "displayChanges" for now) which can be used to display the words which were converter in a page, __like this__, so that we can review what is being converted.
- A table "ws_typo" for defining typographic conversions in each (content) language;
- The tables I've used are s:pt:User:Helder.wiki/Dicionário/pt-br and w:pt:User:Helder.wiki/Dicionário/pt-br. I've also found tables at no:s:Wikikilden:Ordliste/nb and no:s:Wikikilden:Ordliste/nn.
- Probably it would be good idea to use something like commons:MediaWiki:Gadget-HotCat.js/de for localization. Helder 03:08, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
- ok, I've added your suggestions. ThomasV 21:59, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
- hmm, sorry, I did not notice that you have written a new version; I tried to test it at fr.ws but it does not seem to be working [10]. Please let me know when it works. Also, if you are interested in developing this, you could request adminship here.
- ThomasV 22:19, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
- Hi!!!
- I've made a test. This seems to work.
- My previous fix for a bug was fixed again, with tests like "
". There is also an nsToConvert{} and id_dic{}, for language specific configurations. In this edit I've tried to expand the current syntax of dictionaries so that when specifying "conversion rules" we have:var nw = (w in dict && dict.hasOwnProperty(w))? dict[w]: null;
- word: text, converts word=>text, Word=>Text, WORD=>TEXT (but not wOrD=>tExT). This was already possible;
- Word: Text, converts Word=>Text and WORD=>TEXT (but not word=>text neither wOrD=>tExT). This is new, and useful for names of people and places (they don't appear in lowercase);
- WORD: TEXT, converts only WORD=>TEXT (not word=>text, Word=>Text and neither wOrD=>tExT). This is new, and useful for acronyms (which appears as uppercase);
- wOrD: tExT, converts only wOrD=>tExT (this seems to be rare, but may be useful for names like LaTeX...)
- The previous ___underscore trick___ was substituted, and now the script adds a span around each converted word, wich can be stylized using CSS (as I did here). Here is an example. If you remove using
var displayChanges = true;
, it should use the conventional method (no indication of which words were converted, but may be faster [I don't know yet] than adding all those spans... :-) ). - Best regards, Helder 17:30, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

- No problem. =) Helder 13:07, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
- hello; I tested your script again today at fr.ws, but it is still not working : it expects a dict in portuguese ! ThomasV 12:44, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
- Huumm.. it seems that you have tested it by just importing the portuguese script, without any configuration. Since I'm trying to make it usable in more than one language or wiki, it is currently needed to configure each use case with needed values. I've made a first configuration at fr:s:User:Helder.wiki/Scripts/Modernisation.js (and added the corresponding CSS page), but you may want to change the French texts in variant_names and ws_error, and to choose an year to replace XXXX in the fr-XXXX code (I've used pt-PT-1973 and pt-BR-1990 in Portuguese, because the orthography used in Portugal is from 1973 and in Brazil it is from 1990). Maybe it is better to test it in your personal JS until it is properly configured? I'll try to document all the parameters at pt:s:User:Helder.wiki/Scripts/Modernisation. Hello! Something is wrong with Proofread statisics. On plwikisource we never had 7346 proofread pages; we have only 1741 pages in this category. Furhtermore, it doesn't add up: 6221 + 14 + 958 + 7346 + 5606 = 20145, whereas under "all pages" we have (correctly) 14539. --Teukros 10:02, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
- As of 18/09/2010, the "proofread" column shows the total of pages in categories "proofread" and "validated" ThomasV 20:31, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
Match and split
[edit]Does it work also here on oldwikisource? I've tried it on La polenta but it gives me an error. P.S. We are trying it on it.source and I think we're going to use it a lot in the next future! :-) Thanks a lot for having created this useful tool! Candalua 21:19, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
- probably not ; I will need to adapt it ThomasV 18:18, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

Missing characters at Modernisation.js
[edit]As pointed at fr:s:Discussion_Wikisource:Dictionnaire#Correct.3F by VIGNERON, it is necessary to add ĩ and q̃ (Ĩ and Q̃ too?) to the list of characters in the script.
Could you do that when you have the time? Best regards, Helder 01:38, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
- I do not have much time to maintain this atm ; why don't you apply for adminship here ? you could take care of this ThomasV 11:41, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
NOEDIT in transcluded pages
[edit]It has since we started transclude pages that the possibility to edit a page by "clicking" on the heading is undesirable. To add the magic word NOEDITSECTION does not help on pages with <pages index=/>.
Now, we maybe have found a solution to that. -- Lavallen 18:38, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
- It would be better to put this in Proofreadpage_header_template. Proofreadpage_pagenum_template will be deprecated in the future, because it interfers with indexing robots (try to use PageNumbers.js instead).
- For the page namespace, you can also use CSS : .ns-104 .editsection { visibility:hidden; }

Rename user accounts

Could you or some other bureaucrat rename my user account, as requested on Metawiki? Helder 11:44, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

Modernisation.js
[edit]Hi Thomas! I've been trying to install the Modernisation.js script to the Spanish Wikisource, but I can't add the es configuration to MediaWiki:Modernisation.js. Could you do it, please?
In this case, it should be something like this:
var ws_alphabet = { 'es':'a-zçâàäãéèêẽëîïôöõûùüÿœæñA-ZÀÂÄÉÈÊËÎÏÔÖÙÛÜŸŒÆÑ&ß' } var dictionary_page = { 'es':'Wikisource:Diccionario' }
Thanks a lot, B1mbo 17:24, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

Statistics for ca.source
[edit]Hi, ThomasV. http://toolserver.org/~thomasv/statistics.php?diff=3 has not counted Catalan new validated/proofreaded pages (zero in the last 3 days, but that's not true: [13]) and total count is also biased. What can it be due to? Perhaps is it related to page ca:s:Pàgina:Buscant lo desconegut (1898).djvu/29 (when I edit it from IE it appears "undefined"). Could you have a look when you hace a minute, please? Thanks. -Aleator 10:34, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
- I've opened bugzilla:26881 because I see a clear correlation between the modification of the page and the breakdown of the ca.source statistics. I think it's a noinclude tag problem. Regards. -Aleator 12:15, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
- Day-to-day statistics work now (but yesterday I saw all domains grew 0 pages). I think ca.source is 200 pages undercounted (perhaps those last 7 days have not been counted). Anyway, it works now :) The bugzilla is still opened. Best regards. -Aleator 18:57, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
Problem with Proofread in ru.wikisource
[edit]Thomas, where is strange bug in ru.wikisource. Then I open any Index page (say, s:ru:Индекс:Анна Каренина part 1-4.pdf I can change the "Источник" (source) field and when I save Index everething seems OK. But if I open the Index again, all data in "Источник" (source) disapears and only pdf or djvu text automatically apperars on it. ChVA 16:30, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

Rename
[edit]Hallo ThomasV. Please see Wikisource:Bureaucrats#Yuma_.E2.86.92_Larry_Yuma. Problem with fromsection and tosection
[edit]This feature doesn't work after recent update. See [14] for example (the beginng of the 3d chapter appears now at the end). The whole page is included though tosection parameter is set. ChVA 14:15, 19 February 2011 (UTC)
- yes, see https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27454 ThomasV 06:22, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- One more problem with <pages> — now it shows real page numbers in Index, not pages set by <pagelist> command. For example, at http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Dawkins,_James_(DNB01) page number 131 is shown though it should be 119 ChVA 10:31, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
please see Wikisource:ProofreadPage ThomasV 11:01, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- I see that problem with tosection/fromsection is fixed, but problem with page numbers is not fixed. It isn't described at Wikisource:ProofreadPage. ChVA 05:31, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
OCR does not work anymore
[edit]Hello Thomas, could you please tell us about the chances of Wikisource OCR getting fixed anytime soon? Thanks in advance. --Matthead 17:51, 19 February 2011 (UTC)
- Bester ThomasV,
- ocr is not working for the moment ; tesseract must be reinstalled at toolserver.org ThomasV 14:28, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
- (If you feel more comfortable, I can try to use my simplified english, also – somehow I remember, your german is pretty good. Yours --Konrad Stein 22:22, 25 February 2011 (UTC))
- no, I will not install Tesseract. First ask a toolserver admin to do this, and then I will fix the ocr gadget ThomasV 09:46, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
