forms in a dh’ + vowel

This part looks wrong to me:

• a dh'imirt: ag imirt
• a dh'innsint: ag insint
• a dh'ithe: ag ithe
• a dh'ól: ag ól
• a dh’imirt: ag imirt
• a dh’innsint: ag insint
• a dh’ithe: ag ithe
• a dh’ól: ag ól

As far as I know, at least in Munster, those (and unlenited a d’imirt, a d’ól) actually correspond to standard a imirt, a ól, etc. without any ag (from older d’imirt, d’ól), eg. is maith liom fuisce a dh’ól for I like to drink whiskey, standard is maith liom fuisce a ól.

An example on Wikisource would be Page:Mo sgeal fein.djvu/151 where Shocaruigheas m’ aigne i lathair Dé ar gan deoch meisgeamhail a dh’ól a thuille. should be modernized to Shocraíos m’aigne i lathair Dé ar gan deoch meisciúil a ól a thuilleadh. (… to not drink an intoxicating drink any more).

But I wonder whether those forms should be in the roinnte part at all – I think they are still used in Munster, eg. Ó Sé in Gaeilge Chorca Dhuibhne gives examples (§688, pp. 366–367): n´iː heːn´ ar fiʃɡ´iː ɣoːl eː ní haon fhear fuiscí a dh’ól é, xɪn´ eː ɣɑːrdəx chun é a dh’ardach, xahəx ʃeː iː ɣ´ihɪ tur caithfeadh sé í a dh’ithe tur, kahɪr´ iːəd ɪ ɣ´eb´ɪˈr´uː nsun caithfir iad a dh’oibriú ansan, etc.

So shouldn’t they rather be moved to the Caighdeánaithe part? Silmethule (talk) 12:49, 22 April 2020 (UTC)

First thing: I put the stuff here fully expecting it to be edited mercilessly - actually, hoping for that - so feel free to move/delete as you see fit, but I definitely appreciate the note.

This started out as one big file of normalisations, for another project, and was based on a comparison with a reference text, but it was a few years ago, so I don't remember the details; it definitely didn't come pre-sorted into modernised and standardised, so quite a lot got overlooked, and what I was considering to be "modernised" was guided by the other project, so I expect errors and non-general things treated generally.

There are a few issues/limitations, not least of which is that there's no dedicated Irish Wikisource, so this can't be enabled generally, so it's a bit useless. I still hope to come up with something that doesn't require adding a custom piece of javascript, but as of right now, I don't have a solution.
